Karen Mangat was born and raised in the Lower Mainland and joined Grandview Law Group LLP as an articled student in November 2017.
Prior to attending law school, Karen graduated ‘with distinction’ from Simon Fraser University (SFU) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. While at SFU, she spent 3 years as a Research Assistant in an Experimental Psychology and Law Lab, which ultimately led her to pursue a career in law.
Karen completed her Juris Doctor at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops, British Columbia in 2017. During her time in law school, she was a Student Mentor, Event Coordinator for TRU South Asian Law Students’ Association, and a LiveHelp Volunteer for the Legal Services Society of British Columbia. As a LiveHelp Volunteer, Karen was responsible for responding to visitor enquiries on the BC Family Law website through an online live chat. Through this experience, Karen developed a keen interest in helping individuals with family law issues through a very emotional and stressful time in their lives.
Karen is passionate, approachable, and always eager to assist clients with their family law disputes. Since commencing her articles, she has assisted both Paul Mann and Rupinder K. Khunkhun with a number of BC Supreme Court trials and has gained invaluable litigation experience. Further, she has made many appearances in Supreme Court Chambers and BC Provincial Court. Karen is fluent in both English and Punjabi.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, reading, going to the gym, and on occasion, binge-watching shows on Netflix.
