Simmi was raised in Delta, BC. She commenced working at Grandview Law Group LLP in 2017 as a legal assistant and officially began articling in February 2018.
Prior to starting law school, Simmi completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Simon Fraser University.
Simmi’s initial interest in the legal profession started early upon seeing her mother admitted to the BC bar in 2001. At a young age, Simmi witnessed the determination, hard work, and passion to successfully advocate for clients and ultimately, thrive in the legal field.
Striking on her passion for travelling and exploring new cities, Simmi commenced her law school career at the University of San Francisco School of Law. While in her second year of law school, Simmi achieved the CALI Excellence for the Future Award, earning the highest grade in Arbitration law. Additionally, Simmi was a member of various clubs including the Student Bar Association, South Asian Law Students Association, and the Family Law Society wherein her initial interest in family law sparked. Upon completing her Juris Doctor Degree in California, Simmi rejoined her family and friends in Vancouver. She earned proficiency in various aspects of Canadian law through successfully challenging the National Committee on Accreditation exams.
Since commencing her employment with Grandview Law Group, Simmi has worked alongside Rupinder K. Khunkhun in assisting with three Supreme Court trials. Through these court experiences, Simmi has gained knowledge in the advanced analysis of financial aspects of family law litigation, preparing substantive submissions and learning to prepare questions for direct and cross-examination of various witnesses.
Outside of the office, Simmi enjoys reading, travelling and fitness.
